Can i upgrade from a single core to a dual core lacking varying the mother board?

I own a HP a1267c with a AMD athlon 64 3800+ 2.4ghz can i upgrade to a dual core minus upgrading the motherboard? If yes what would be a good dual core processor?

nope...they hold different socket., and diff FSB.,
your processor is mostly likely socket 939. the newer dual core processors are mostly socket am2. youll hold to figure out which your mobo is. i could find out for you but psyche rather transmit you to go to cpuzid.com or some other site close to that that can tell you.
probably not it doesnt own enough slots...its not that expensive to gain a new motherboard.. here is a cool site it have everything you need for your computer..
