Can you use DDR2 533 within DDR2 800?

I enjoy 2 1gig DDR2 4200 533, I am looking at a motherboard but it only have DDR2 800 listed for Memory Standard. Will my 533 stuff work and freshly be slower then if I have 800 or will the 533 not work at all?

yes you can.
It should work, and the speed difference isn't something you should know how to detect unless you're running some crazy stress tests.
More than expected yes, as most Mb list the extreme they support.



So the 800 is prob the highest the MB can support and i belive DDR2 400 is the lowest



Usually aslong as it supports ddr2 it can enjoy between any number.



like near DDR 1 it says it uses DDR 400 you can put 333 within it
It will work but not at optimum speed. As you may know the computer communicates through a BUS. One such bus called the Front Side Bus, FSB, is deeply important within a computer system as it connects the processor and RAM. The speed and width of this bus have a big influence over system performance.



The speed limitations of the FSB are cause mainly by the motherboard but if an mismatch type of memory is installed next the bus speed might be prevented from operating as fast as it should.



So contained by short you can but it would be better if they matched. Truth be be told you probably won't be able to describe a difference during most of the time but all contained by all you should take the complying RAM but thats just my opnion.



All memory modules hold a specified speed at which they can operate and this should be matched closely with your computer system.
