That is the best 8600 card available thanks to the awesome cooler and low price, but for illustrious end you entail something in the 8800 series. If you are running a resolution below 1600 x 1200 gain an 8800gts 320 mb, and for 1600 x 1200 and up get the 640mb reworked copy.
First off, why are you getting an athlon processor? It would be hugely benefiticial to get an Intel Core 2 Duo...later we'll consider the petty differences between Nvidia 8000 series graphics processors.
actually the 8600gts is a low fall video card despite it's high price.It is euiqivalent to the 7600gs but it supports dx10.That's the one and only advantage.If you dont enjoy vista or you are not planning on buying vista theres no reason to buy a 8600gts because you necessitate vista to take supremacy of direct x 10 in the adjectives.If you don't have vista you should consider radeon x1950pro or x1950xt.However if you enjoy vista,dont buy 8600gts...instead buy the high finish video card...the 8800gts 320 mb.Good luck.
