Adding strike sustain?

I currently own 256mb ram, can I add on a 512mb chip to the 256mb?

The reason I ask be I was told I have to keep them impossible to tell apart size if I run 2.

Adding strike sustain?

It depends on the motherboard. I have an elder computer running Windows XT with both 256MB and 512MB RAM chips installed and it works fine. In frequent newer motherboards, you must install RAM chips in matched pairs. In other words, it have to be two 256MB or two 512MB, etc. It can't be one 256MB and one 512MB.
I think you should append two 512 chips. I remember our IT person at the Des Moines Works describing me to keep them even. Which plant are you/were you affiliated near?
Run crucial memory scanner and it wil tell you exactly what you can make a payment to your system.

It should be fine, I have 256 and a 512Mb stick no problem but you should know which type of hit u have surrounded by your system.

Use www.crucial.com select yourmanufacturer/model etc and it will tell you whcih type your system supports.
