Well, it is better than the X6800 dual core, contained by apps and gaming. For around the same price, so if you enjoy the money, then win the QX6700, or the Q6600

Multi-core processors are well suited for machines acting as background base engines or pattern servers. They are of little use for home applications, where it is seldom that more than one item is going on at a time.
It depends. Do you need it? If not, consequently it is not the most economical. If you NEED something that fast (I hold no idea what for.. but I don`t know you are a pro gamer) then return with it. The price per FLOPS (FLoating point Operations Per Second) is very low compared to some mid reach AMD or Intel CPUs.
Its very expensive, so i meditate its only worth the money for relatives who does a lot of extreme things within their pc.
If you hold the $$, buy what you can. Computers are always evolving....and althought you may not use it right very soon - you may get into video editing, record movies, etc.



Vista is going to open the door to multi processing households, i.e. Picture a tube with a computer attached to it the size of your typical DVD player next to a couple of huge hard drives (not a tower) (to be used as your DVR, DVD, musc and home the stage attached to speakers). In other rooms of the house, you have wireless monitors or TVs beside antennas that connect to the main computer. Several society will be able to work at like time (ie. one can record music, one do homework, etc - adjectives from one computer - and all access the hard drives at like time). It may not quite be here all the same - but it's coming...
